Summer is coming up fast!

After listening to feedback from parents, I am offering several summer OT programs for 2016. summer

Parents have been telling me that it is hard to find the time during the school year to work on OT needs, but that they are interested in a flexible summer program that will help to prepare their children for the next school year.

After spring conferences, I often hear from parents that teachers are commenting on their child’s handwriting, social interactions with peers, and behaviors (self-regulation, controlling emotions, staying calm and attending to task).

So, here is what I have created to help children get ready for the next school year:

  • cooperative playSocial Skills

    • Requires a short in-person evaluation of current skill level to allow program to be customized to your child’s need ($100)
    • Will use social thinking and cognitive-behavioral models, but will be customized to each child.
    • 8-week program for $600: 4 sessions in-home of 45- 60 minutes in length and 4 drop-off with new home program ideas (fun games and activities!) to do between sessions.
  • child blowing dandelionSelf-Regulation (behavior, staying calm, controlling emotions)

    • Requires a short in-person evaluation of current skill level to allow program to be customized to your child’s need ($100)
    • Will most likely use the Zones of Regulation Program, by Leah Kuypers, but will be customized to each child.
    • 8-week program for $600: 4 sessions in-home of 45- 60 minutes in length and 4 drop-off with new home program ideas (fun games and activities!) to do between sessions.
  • Handwriting

    • Grip guideRequires a short in-person evaluation of current skill level to allow program to be customized to your child’s need ($75)
    • Here is how I view handwriting and fine motor skills.
    • 4-week program for $375: 4 sessions in-home of 45- 60 minutes in length
    • 8-week program for $450: 4 sessions in-home of 1 hour in length and 4 drop-off with new home program ideas (fun games and activities!) to do between sessions.

What you can expect?

  • The goal is for a short burst of therapy focused on a specific skills to prepare for the next school year.
  • I will do a short eval, specific to parents concern related to fine motor/handwriting, social skills, or self-regulation skills. We will set a few goals together to track progress.
  • I will provide 4 in-home sessions working on skill development with your child and provide parent education so parents can continue to reinforce skills at home.  Sessions can be scheduled throughout the summer at a families convenience.
  • Between sessions, I will drop-off new activities based on progress and child’s needs for families to do together.  I will loan you supplies, toys, and games that hopefully your child will enjoy to make working on therapy goals fun and easy.  (For 8 week program only.)

How do I sign-up?

Just send me an email that you are interested, so we can catch more about the possibilities.  May is a great time to do a quick eval and set-up a summer plan!
