Place: Millz House, they are a retail store for playgrounds, trampolines, and other play equipment with a show room that is open for play for children 10 and under during business hours.
Where: 14645 Felton Court, Suite #104, Apple Valley, MN 55124
Cost: $1 and a canned good to play on Wednesday mornings, otherwise $5 per child (or $10 per family). Details of the open play can be found here.
Why?
- In Minnesota, there is a lot of the year that getting outside to play isn’t practical. However, children still need to move. This indoor showroom is open for children to play all year round.
- Some details:
- They have lots of indoor playgrounds for climbing, sliding, and swinging.
- 2 trampolines (the safest I’ve seen) give a great chance for intense motor active for children of all ages.
- For older children, an indoor court has a variety of basketball hoops for children to enjoy, as well as ping-ping area.
- Several picnic tables are available for a snack break.
- They have lots of indoor playgrounds for climbing, sliding, and swinging.
For children who are sensory seekers, the playground equipment and trampoline provide a variety of intense input through jumping, climbing, sliding, and swinging. On Wednesday mornings ($1 to play) there are lots of other families and children around for social interaction.
- For children who need a quieter place to play, try going on any day other than Wed (or go early on Wednesday for a quieter experience).
- Motor skill development- the variety of playground equipment provides children who are working on motor skill development a chance to work at their exact level. You can find swings, slides, and climbing equipment for both beginners and more experienced children.
- Accessibility: Bathroom- 2 large bathrooms are kid and family friendly. The whole place has solid, smooth surfaces to navigate, but the equipment itself isn’t accessible.
